I want to know if you are/have enjoying/ed playing the piano and if you have lessons, if you enjoy them, and if you have played in the past and had lessons, did you enjoy them or quit because you were sick of it, and are you doing anything any kind of career type thing now with the piano? I am doing an English essay on piano lessons so that is why I am wondering.

I started playing the piano by ear when I was 7 years old. When I was 15 I decided that I wanted to learn how to read music, so I took lessons for 4 years. I very much enjoyed playing and taking lessons. I didn't so much enjoy the recitals because I was scared silly playing in front of a crowd of people. I'm much older now, but I still love to play piano. My piano has been my friend in good times and bad. I can sit down down to play and get totally lost in a song. I'm forever grateful that I can play, it brings so much joy into my life.

I have been playing piano for 5 years. The first year I took from a crappy teacher, so it was barely piano lessons, but then I got a good teacher, and now it's really a challenge, but I love it. It is so beautiful, and so wonderful to able to play an instrument, and all that music out there. I wanted to quit a few years ago, but held on,. and now I can play pretty well. It takes about 45 mins out of my day, and one hour lesson a week. I will continue playing through high school, but not pursue a career. It's just a great gift to be in the arts.

I took piano lessons in the 7thgrade for a year and enjoyed it. I think the business where I took them closed down, so I quit. I played on my own some until college and I enjoyed it. I took lessons for 2 quarters and quit because I was couldn't find the time to practice enough. I have played some over the years and enjoyed it. I played for a church once when they didn't have a piano player for several months for free, until they found one much better than me for free. Now I play almost every day and look forward to it. I really enjoy it and get better as time goes by. Maybe one day someone will need a piano player, and I can help out.

I started taking piano lessons because I wanted to and soon after I feel in love with the instrument. I am now a piano teacher and absolutely love that as well. While I realize many of my students may fall into the category of being forced to take lessons I try to instill the love of music and hope that they at least have fond memories of lessons with me when they are older even if they do not continue to play.

I kind of taught myself some piano stuff, I play by ear.

I play other instruments at a very high level, so it just came naturally to learn a little piano stuff.

I took lessons except on the guitar.

I'm currently trying to learn. I'm not taking lessons at the academy or anything like that. My parents got some dvd's with piano lessons. Pretty basic, but i learned how to read notes with that. I like it better to learn things on my own. Now i'm just practicing my reading notes and playing skills with some music sheets i downloaded from the internet of songs i like that have piano in them. I am enjoying it.

I played the piano when I was young. I enjoyed the lesson's at the time, however I had to give it up, as I was busy with my figure skating.....too bad. Now my son plays, he's been playing for the last 5 years. He enjoys playing the piano... he is trying his second test in the Royal Conservatory...he is in the Grade 4 piano level. I do hope he sticks with it.....I love to hear him play!!

I took lessons for ten years. At first I loved it cause I could play the piano by ear before I started. As I grew older I got so sick of the lessons I could scream. I wasn't allowed to quit. To this day when I go to visit family they want me to play for them. I can't stand to play the piano. And when I do get the urge I don't want anyone around me when I do.

I just started learning piano for a month so far (college credit course), and I'm enjoying it. I've always wanted to learn how to play. I don't think I would major in piano, but music will always be one of my hobbies.

i've been playing the piano since i was old enough to sit on a stool. i've never had lessons - i will one day when i get around to it. but i also play by ear - i pick up songs i hear and just go with it. i play for probably half an hour a day now - when i was at school i used to play for at least an hour a day. its my relaxation - i just get lost in a world of music!! as i've gotten older and my fingers have grown longer i've adapted my own style - very pop-ish. not classical scales n stuff, or bumpy jumpy jazz, but a smooth, rich, easy to sing to kinda style.
