ebay is a safe as YOU make it.

never buy from a seller with less than 98.6% feedback.

NEVER send anyone WESTERN UNION!

NEVER click on a link in ANY email!

ALWAYS pay through PAYPAL with a CREDIT CARD!

if anything goes wrong, you have the option of contacting the CC company and filing for a CHARGEBACK.

yes, some sellers are trustworthy just check the feedback. I don't go below 99% feedback. 98 is questionable depending on the amount of items being bought and sold in a day. Make sure you use paypal for the extra protection.
But If you are a seller then EBAY SUCKS, they are getting so greedy with there fees, not to mention that they own Paypal so they get double fees. Ebay needs to be kind to the sellers.

A big item of trustworthy-ness is the sellers Feedback score.

This score shows how many Feedbacks the seller has received from other buyers. Also shown is a percentage score.

Any Seller with a 98% or above score can be considered trustworthy. A Seller will not remain a member if too many people complain and leave negative feedback.

I have never made a really large purchase on eBay, but I have bought quite a few things there (mostly African violet leaves, as I raise the plants as a hobby). Ebay has been totally forthrigth with me; I have seldom dealt with a company that has been as up-front. I pay through Pay-Pal when I purchase something, and they likewise have been completely trustworthy in my experience. I have had only one dispute with a seller, and even that was handled well by eBay. My son sold some things there, and they were equally even-handed with him, so I would not hesitate to recommend eBay to anyone wanting to buy or sell.

it is trustworthy for the most part... though I've heard you should be careful with paypal if you are selling something, see paypalwarning.com and other sites
