hi Ken!
Gosh, you have so many answers already so hope I can get a look in?.
I like some of the answers I have read so far but I honestly believe that with human development comes responsibility and because we no longer live communally as we did in the past, we are a lot more self-reliant than we should be or are used to being.
Jobs have become performance related now and so the pay too and this puts enormous pressure on people to earn the wealth that they crave and the material possessions they desire. But it is all then a substitute for connectedness to others and why you find so many people looking for love and friendships on line and not out in the regular world.
Life is difficult because we no longer challenge it and the things we really want and so just accept and live up to the expectations of a society that is evolving too rapidly for most of us to keep up with. This is the view of so many people I have talked to here in the UK where I am from and so have no idea what people are thinking from other parts of the world?.
I don't think we do make it difficult for ourselves because if we did, then we would find ways not to make it difficult. This is to do with the way the society we live in operates and our reaction to it.

Life is what you make it if you think life is difficult then try to look at it in a more positive way

Because we have the mental capacity to think! We have the ability to reason things out. We can make intelligent decisions. The main reason why life is so difficult is because we have the right to free will. If we decide to complicate our lives then we will have a complicated life. If we decide to live a simple life then that is what we will have. If you decide to make your life difficult then that is your decision. You are free to change it if you want.
You can make life quite easy for yourself. If you want.

Sometimes life gets hard.
My life gets hard as well but i deal with it in a bad way which i have stopped.
People who think thoughts like 'i cant be here anymore' usually take the cowards way out.
Thats why we have friends and family to lean on when times are hard.
When i think life gets to difficult i write in in a diary, write poetry or talk to someone about. I even scream as loud as i can if it gets really bad. Like..i mean alot of people have different ways of dealing with things..You just have to find your way:)

Its all relative.
Your life would be much more difficult if you lived in a third world country or lived 1000 years ago.

It's a test to build our characters. Imagine living in a third world country if you think it's difficult where you are. Remember to have a sense of humor, especially about your own actions. Don't get angry and resentful. That is the road to ruin.

BEcause of this.. There is the power of good in this world of God, and the power of evil in this world, which is of the devil. Both sides try to draw us to them and influence our choices. We have free choice and will be held accountible for the choices we make. But, we do get to make the choice. There is so much awful in this world bedcuase so many reject God and His teachings, and they bring so much havoc to our lives. God gets us thru it, but there are the natural conseauences of sin, and all pay a price to some degree. Even illness, that is the degrading of the body, the natural conseaquence of sin. God designed us to live long full lives, but due to sin, we dont. We can ony have a chance at long life, if we are under Gods full protection by obedience.

Selfishness. It breeds greed and lust for power. These elements exist on various levels, from the neighbor who is just looking out for #1, to a boss looking to short employees and customers just to line his wallet (enjoying the power of berating employees as well).., and all the way up to those in the national leadership positions.
Its the biggest reason for hunger and other sufferings in the world. Get rid of the Selfishness - Earth could be a Utopia.

life is a test, from God
there is two world
when we die we go to a different world
and that is where we live happy and forever...
all the prophet when into hard times. and even tho they are the best ppl who lived in this world.
God shows us that life is hard and is easy
just remember Allah and he will remember you
remember Allah when you are happy
he will take care of you when you are sad..
