Some guy just got busted. he told the "13 yr old" online he could get in trouble for things he wanted to do to her and said he wanted to perform oral sex on her. YET he got caught and he said, oh that was online not real life I wouldnt do that- thats sick. Yet, he showed up at the girls house. Wow, I ALMOST believe him.... no, not really!

Do you think they learn anything from getting busted on that show?

There are several excuses which are frequently brought forth by these men.

That the interaction was solely online is really of no consequence. There are laws specifically against such behavior online, and if they are featured on Dateline: To Catch a Predator it is because they have taken the step beyond the online interaction to showing up in person. Such a forward action in furtherance of their solicitation of a minor only demonstrates forcefully their intent.

Do they learn anything? Well, they do learn what it is like to be arrested, booked, put to trial, and eventually convicted. I can only hope that they learn that they will be held to account for their actions, though recidivism is high for such sexually based offenses.
