The problem really are the politicians. To attract more peole in political rallies, they bring in celebrities.
Good laws should have been passed long ago.
The Phil. Constitution says every Filipino who can just read and write is qualified to run for an elective position. This provision should have been amended. Look at some lunatics who filed early their senatorial candidacy.
The Phil. Constitution is anti-dynasty and it merely ask Congress to pass a law to give its effect. Twenty years have passed. And now, you are witnessing a son and a brother wanting to join their "first degree" relatives in the Senate.
This is the kind of politics we have. They do not wish to pass laws that will affect their interests.
And, now comes the celebrities. Can they be faulted when they themselves see that Congress do not even pass a national budget if their own pork barrel is cut. Can everyone blame anyone who aspires for elective position when their desire is to help the poor.
Everyone do and everybody jump this bandwagon.

Damn, all of you are a bunch of elitists. You mean to tell me if you just know how to read and write that should not be enough to become a senator (mind you, not a President)? Heheh...cmon! Erap became the president and he ran this country to the ground. Dennis Roldan I think was once a congressman. Vilma Santos is not too shabby and she is very successful. Nora Aunor was once an elected official and now she was caught transporting drugs in LA? Vic Sotto and Loren Legarda were also in politics previously and now are running again. Now Manny Paquiao is running as a congressman of his district with a lot of criticisms from oppositionists who say he knows nothing about governance and politics. FPJ had no previous experience in politics and has no track record in governing even a small town and yet he had a lot of votes. Why the heck did people elect all these movie personalities I mentioned then? People are just stupid and they just want to spout off without thinking. Anyone who is qualified as stated in our Constitution should be able to run. Let the people who vote determine if they are acceptable or not.

I have nothing against them, I used to like Cesar Montano when I was in the Philippines. But its hard to know if they are just running because of their popularity. If senators are law makers, how can they make law if they don't know how to write it?
This is the thing, I would vote for a candidate for senator if they don't spend to much in advertising themselves, putting themselves on TV and billboard. Candidates who spend millions for their candidacy are just after the position but not the welfare of the Filipinos.

with all due respect to our philippine constitution and the persons involved but i think it is very inappropriate for them to run or much worse win as lawmakers of the country.
some points:
1. both are VERY INEPERIENCED in running the show. yes they may be award winning actors but i think if a person is to run for office he should start from the low levels say a barangay council member first... law making is very much different from a local government much more showbusiness. if they intend to serve the filipinos it is best for them to just be pure entertainers and damn it win a f'in international award not a seat at the senate.
2. we had ENOUGH OF ACTOR/POLITICIANS. it has been tried and tested and it is all but miserable failure. actors themselves cannot elevate the level of the current state of local showbusiness much more be lawmakers. wow!
3. they are using POPULARITY CONTEST and not platform of government to win. again a tried and tested winnign formula but after that what is instore for us thier constituents?

They're stupid and uto uto..Senators are lawmakers..They did not even graduated in college..how can they make laws? If they hire a lawyer to be their ghost writer..they will be wasting a lot of people money..
Many Filipinos are stupid too.even if they do not win..im sure they will be in top 20.
Thats is why, I do not vote..they just make fun of the Right of Suffrage..they do not respect the law and the constitution.

i am sorry to say, the political landscape of the philippines has been invaded by crabgrass and all manners of weeds! now second or third rate actors and actresses are running for office as if they are auditioning for a role. how can these actors be expected to play politicians when they can't even act their way out of a paper bag? preposterous! to be a successful politician, one must be able to lie and persuade the little people...with a smile. and that's talent!
