I am 37 weeks prego and had ob appt. today. They said I have a mature placenta and it has already done all it's going to do? Does that mean it's really, really, really close to go into labor?

I have never been told that. My guess is that they will be watching you closely so nothing happens to your baby. Did they mention induction??

I've never heard it put that way, but a mature placenta that has done all it can means that there is a chance that the placenta can start to deteriorate at any time and that is dangerous to the baby. A deteriorating placenta can cause the O2 supply to your baby to be deminished. Usually the placenta starts to deteriorate after 40 weeks, that is why when a woman goes past her due date, the doc will watch her more closely for that. If a woman is not ready to deliver and she has a problem with the placenta, the doc will induce labor and get the delivery going.

Maybe. I wish I could go into labor any day! They will probably watch you carefully to make sure the placenta is still attached and functioning for the the baby. Good Luck!

you can give birth from 37 weeks to 40 weeks with no problems if you are having alot of pressure in your lower abdomen then that means you are getting close to going into labor
