What if it was brought about by their refusal to take the proper medication the doctor prescribed to them. Psychotic meaning screaming, running, and crying because of the voices.

It's not appropriate to laugh in front of them - they are suffering, and they need support from the outside world regardless of what they're doing, and denigrating them to their face greatly increases their distress.

However, they can be bloody funny, so when they don't know about it, laugh all you want. Reason being, is that when they recover from the psychotic episode, chances are they'll find it funny as well. When you help them to laugh at themselves, you do more healing than a year of doctor's visits.

You obviously know nothing of the work of therapist and psychologist. None of them can prescribe drugs, that can only be done by a doctor or psychiatrist. DO NOT CONFUSE THE TWO VERY DIFFERENT PROFESSIONS. You also lump all of a massive field into one pot. I am a hypnotherapist and work in a very different way to, say, a NHS psychologist. I work - successfully, with people who's problems range from stopping smoking or weight control or fear of mice to overcoming drug addiction or overcoming the fears which are causing the client to die or overcoming the devastation of a terrible childhood. In my work I have helped over a thousand people to a better life. In some cases to save life. As to doing it for the money (business), With my skills and knowledge I could earn at least twice what I am by selling pointless junk to those who have been lead by society to believe it will cure their ills. ...And I am not the only therapist who has. Meeting many who had been helped and discussing with them how therapies have helped so many people is what lead me to become a therapist.

It probably is, but sometimes you don't know that they really have a problem. And often, you can't help but laugh, because they're going nuts. Sometimes when I see that kind of stuff, I don't know how to deal with the situation, so it forces me to laugh.

It's only wrong if it's not funny. If they are ranting and raving, waiving their hands, spitting, etc.....

Then laugh your freakin' *** off!
