This afternoon I started bleeding bright red blood and I rushed to the doctor and they did a vaginal ultrasound and they saw the baby and heartbeat. I am still bleeding and he said I am "threantened miscarriage" but now the blood is turning brown and kinda chunky. Has this happened to anyone else?

a "Threatened AB" is a term used when a patient is having problems , such as bleeding , but there was ultrasound confirmation of a presently viable gestation. basically ..at 6 weeks with bleeding there is very little one can do medically to prevent a miscarraige .

That having been said , this DOES NOT mean that you ARE miscarrying. It mans that doctor has taken a watch and wait stance ,and has diagnosed you " threatened" so than any additional blood work or additional imaging needed during this sensitive time will be covered by insurance .

many woman have bleeding early on ....sometimes its old blood , sometimes it's new blood from capillaries leaking as the placenta grows , and sometimes its a bleed in the uterus around or near the sac . Sometimes these bleeds , called subchorionic hemmorge, can cause complications; other times they repair and resolve themselves over time .

Your Doc wants what is best for you and your baby. Follow any instructions they gave you , and do your best not to worry. I know it's an emotional ,scary thing ,but if you focus on the good the bad will seem less so.

good luck.
