like, who 'took over' or 'absorbed' Iran/Persia (w/e you want to call it)
and when did this happen?

I think Cyrus the Great in like 531 BC
and I knew the Turks took over Iran during the 11th century and also the Mongols in the 13th century

The Allies took it over after WWII. USA,UK,USSR, installed the Sha, and took the oil for years.
