I hired a lawyer to sell my home, and when I was fileing my taxes it was discovered that my lawyer stole 5,000.00 of the money I was suppose to get for my house

If your lawyer took $5,000 over and above whatever fee you paid him for the sale of the house, and that $5,000 was not stipulated anywhere as part of the deal, then first you contact the lawyer and inquire. If no reasonable/acceptable explanation is received, then you file a complaint with your State Bar Association.

Mis-appropriating funds is a cardinal sin for an attorney and will very highly likely result in the lawyers dis-barment.

You also have the right to file a criminal complaint of theft against the lawyer if he/she can't explain the missing 5g's. The theft of 5'g would be a felony in most states.

file a formal complaint with your state's bar association. they will investigate your claim.
