They kept him chained up because Betty thought he had killed his brother's girlfriend. But it was really his brother, Matthew, who did it. Betty was going to kill Caleb with poison cupcakes, but found out Matthew was guilty. Matthew was going to run away with Danielle, but Bree stopped him. He held her hostage and was shot. He was mildly retarded and they were keepinghim tied up because they thought he had killed his brother's girlfriend in their old town. Danielle started sleeping with the brother and they ended up running away. I can't remember exactly how it happened after that, but they came back and I think both brothers ended up being shot and killed.
