To start with, most of their backpacks are REALLY heavy. The wait to cross the street lasts 2 minutes and there are about 30 kids waiting to cross at a time. It would be VERY nice to take the backpacks off for 1 to 2 minutes while waiting, and yet NOBODY does it. WHY???
Backpacks are designed to carry stuff from place to place, on a person's back. So I don't get it: Why can't anybody take them off when they're not walking? There is no practical reason to wear them while just STANDING.
Can you explain why NOBODY takes their backpacks off while waiting to cross the street?

Your talking like it's really idiotic... Exactly, 30 seconds... thats not a long time! It's a backpack, maybe if it was a big hand carried bag you'd have a point. It's more effort taking the bag off and putting it on again.

Because it takes longer to take them off, then put them back on than it's worth to them. Besides, as heavy as they get (and I've felt some pretty heavy ones) you would be adding more lifting and handling of something that a strong back won't notice. As for me.......I'm an ol' lady who's used my back all my life in working and the thought of putting one on in the first place (much less several times a day) makes me ache! ;-D

bc its a lot harder to pick it up again. maybe ur body then gets used to the " no weight" & then it gets lazy to pick up then carry the heavy weight again.
or they might just dont want to get their backpack dirty.
or they think, the less time 'wasted', the faster ill get home to put my bag down" lol

If they did take off their bag, then someone would probably just snatch it or steal it and some people probably have valuable stuff in their bag...
