How come the usa rules the world? How did this happen?

I'm britsh by the way. What i would like to know is, how did america, a nation which is only a couple of hundred years old, become so god damn powerful.

Almost everything in the world now seems to have something to do with america. I hate to admit it but, the world is pretty much american. Nowadays, whatever america says goes. If they wanted to nuke someone, they could, and know one could do a damn thing about it.

How come, less than a hundred years ago, the british (british empire), ruled like a quarter of the world, and for centuries before that we pretty much ruled the world. Yet now america rules every ****.

Why is it britain, and most nations, are americas bum boys. If they say jump we jump basically.

How can a nation become so powerful, that it's almost like they are invincible?

Do you think it's because people from all over the world moved their for a better life years ago (i.e. the irish, german, italians, etc), and they are like one big world anyway.

Also, 100 years ago britain used to have the biggest and best navy in the world, now america has the best everything.

Do you think america will stay the biggest nation forever?

Come to think of it though, america aren't that good at fighting wars are they? They couldn't beat vietnam, nor can they beat the iraqis.

lol, being an American i have to say your question made me laugh. i thought that the rest of the world hated us... but to read what you just wrote pretty much confirmed it, lol. i know how we portray our country... and its awful. i mean i love my country... i am just not sure if i love it so much right now. sometimes i think i should just move to Canada, lol.
i mean i am sure we look completely stupid... voting bush in TWICE! lol. i mean how dumb can we be right? voting in this jerk in, not one, but TWO times!? crazy.. (i by the way voted democrat) and yet, as you say, we can still get other nations to jump when we want.
and i gotta tell you.. the only reason i can think of as to how this came to be is, money. we (the u.s.) have money to throw around. and who ever has the money has the power. no question about morality... its money that makes the rules.

lol, i love your point about the wars, by the way. we cant defeat some 3rd world country yet we seam to rule the world... go figure.

oh and on your other question, if we (the u.s.) will continue to be the most powerful... i have to say i think for a LONG time we will continue to be. but i think one day, not any time soon, we wont. i think a nation such as ours wont be able to survive too long. they way we throw around our money on pointless topics and how our morals are all backward.. i dont think we will last in the long run.
