I downloaded something, and the second it finished downloading I knew I downloaded spyware. McAfee didn't detect it, nothing detected, but I got numerous spyware ADS and popups, you know the kind that are all YOUR COMPUTER IS INFECTED, DOWNLOAD "SPYDOCTOR" or something, and I got toolbars that were obvious were from spyware. I can't get rid of it, so I restored my computer to an earlier time, and it seems like I got rid of it, how can I know for sure?

(1) If you have not already scanned your comp with spybot do that now .Update it and then run it so it gets rid of all the spyware and trojans in safe mode
(2) Do an online virus scan to check if you still have any other viruses in your computer. And let us know if the online virus scan still finds any virus or spyware .

The same thing has happened to me.... I have even restored my computer and it stilll messes up. I suggest you get not only spyware services but virus services too. Together they catch what each other has missed. I also heard Nortan or something like that is really good. I don't know who your internet service is, but try asking them if they have free spyware or virus blocker. I am with the cable company so they add that stuff on my computer to keep it from messing up so much. Good luck to ya.

Download Spybot.
Turn off System Restore
Run a scan

If it comes up clean, turn on System Restore and make yourself a new restore point.

I have heard read reviews and the two best spyware programs are spyware doctor and webroot.

http://www.download.com/Webroot-Spy-Sweeper-with-AntiVirus/3000-8022_4-10635526.html

Both of them have free trial periods, so download them clear up your spyware and do no buy.
