We are trying to be the best we can be, that's why practice. Anything worth doing is worth the efforts to do it well. One cannot do well without working to do so. No, we'll never be perfect, but why appear to be apathetic instead? My mother used to quote this old saying, "If you've tried and haven't won, never stop for crying. Because all is good and good is done just by faithful trying." I think this speaks volumes! The more we do something, the easier it becomes to do, and each time we do whatever it is, the way we do it gets better as well. So if you care about how whatever you are doing looks or sounds, keep on practicing.

Practice doesn't make perfect when there is an unlimited scope for improvement. It's a dumb phrase, usually used to persuade children to continue working at something. They also learn from it that they are not perfect, thereby dumping unconditional acceptance, as they are not good enough.

It means you can perfect what you train for not yourself. How many gold medal winners do you think never practice the point is to improve

You should n't take it literally, it just means if you work hard and keep trying then you'll get better, improvement is the important theme here not perfection.
