Definitly. David Stern has told the mayor " the ball is in your court" which means that if mayor Goodman makes a good proposal, its posibble an NBA team will emerge from Las Vegas in upcoming years. Also with teams like the Trailblazers, Kings, and Sonics unhappy with there current home because of lack of facilities, its also possible that an exisiting franchise will move to Las Vegas and call it home. The same thing is said for Oklahoma City because they seem to be eager for a team too.
P.S. IF an existing franchise does move to Las Vegas, i hope its the Kings. Personally, i think the Las Vegas Kings has a good ring to it.

No.
Vegas is too much a who ya know town. No team would survive financially if it did not do well right out of the gate.
The average person would be treated like a nobody until the big Cats who run this town and the hotels got tired of shoving the tickets down their constituents and gamblers throats.
By then, they will have alienated the average fan who ACTUALLY pays to see the team play.
If you think I don't know what I am talking about, ask around our fair town and do a head count of the number of regular folk who attended the Allstar game. MINIMAL!!!
Secondly, the Thomas and Mack center is antiquated by today's arena standards.
NBA commissioner Stern said that on local tv and is quoted in the Las Vegas Review Journal.
You do not put a state of the art arena up overnight!

There should be.
I am from near Vegas, and it is disappointing not to have any pro team in the state to root for. The closest thing to a big name team is the Las Vegas Gladiators in the AFL. Preferrably I would rather see a baseball team in vegas, being as we almost got the nationals, but a NBA team would be a step in the right direction.

Not sure if it is the law or just convention but there are no professional teams in Vegas primarily because of the proximity to all that gambling money. Sports books and point shaving controversies are something most pro sports try to keep away from.

certainly not with david stern as nba commissioner...there is just no way he would allow his league to be in as big a gambling city as las vegas, considering how he won't even let his players dress how they want, or sway or chew gum during the national anthem

If they can get rid of Basketball gambling and betting, sure we'll have a Vegas team.
