I have that with all my pregnancies and I had a tilted uterus and that made me measure smaller than I really was. Your doctor might do some u/s to make sure your baby is growing alright, but dont worry. Congrats!!!!

7 or 8 pounds at 36 weeks isn't really that big. You are only a week from the point of being considered full term and the baby should only be putting on half a pound a week. If you are really, really worried about it I recommend not letting up until you get ultrasound. It won't be exact but it'll be closer than fundal height and it would let you know if may you have extra fluid or anything that may cause you to measure larger.

If you have measured regular all along then this could mean that the baby has dropped into the birth canal. It is normal at this point in the pregnancy to measure behind what your weeks are. The baby is cramped and there isn't much room in your uterus so it could mean that your uterus is as stretched as possible. This is very normal and is nothing to worry about. I am 36 weeks with you and I go to the dr tomorrow and I can't wait to see where I am measuring and hoping it is around 34-35 because this is a Great sign that the end is very near and I can't wait to meet my little guy. Congratulations and good luck with your precious bundle of joy.

Fundal height is only approximate to 2cm or so. Plus, it depends on the person who takes it, how accurate they are in locating your public bone.
34cm at 36 weeks is certainly fine.
The trick with fundal height testing is to make sure that the pregnancy is progressing by making sure the measurements keep increasing as expected, helpful through the second trimester especially. If you go back in 2 weeks and you're still 34cm, for example, this may warrant further investigation, probably an internal exammination to see whether you are dialating.

After about 34 weeks they don't really care about the height anymore, because the baby has by then dropped and they feel to make sure the head is engaged. I my doctor has not measured me since 35 weeks. I am due Saturday and already dialated 2cm and more than ready!!!!! You are normal!

Every pregnancy is different, if there was a problem the doctor would have told you. Don't worry. I only gained about 20lbs with my daughter whereas my friend gained like 60lbs. They only measure you to get an idea on how big the baby is
