I'm sure someone somewhere thinks the world is going to end on April 27th! If it is going to end, what are we going to do about it? Nothing! Just live for today and love your family and friends, take time out and enjoy whats around you. But, I suspect the world will be here long after you and I are dead and gone.

People have made unsubstantiated claims about the end of the world for as long as civilizations have been able to write. In every decade of the twentieth century, especially around the millennium, thousands of people have declared to know when the end of the world or human existence will occur.
Most of these views are completely unproven and based on religious or philosophical perspectives about the meaning of human life, especially in regards to a deity or supreme being.
Though pure speculation, the most grounded estimate of the end of of the world is provided by the Doomsday clock, which is a symbolic clock adjusted by scientists to raise awareness of issues critical to human life, including climate change and nuclear proliferation. As of today, the Doomsday clock stands at less than ten minutes to midnight, when the supposed end will occur.
Scientifically speaking, the end of the world, at least of planet Earth, will occur in over five billion years, when the sun expands, novas, and our planetary system can no longer support any form of life. Scientists also predict that the earth's oceans will have evaporated in approximately 50 million years. The impact of a large asteroid on earth's surface might also have devastating consequences on the planet's ability to support human beings.
To answer your question: The end of the world will not likely occur on April 27th 2007, or any date in the near future, provided that human beings works collectively to avoid the effects of foreseen catastrophes, including natural disaster, social conflict, and global climate change.
