I've done several wifi nets for mac and pc, there are lots of options and settings.

if you want to IM me or just update the question with some more info.

router brand?
which 802.11 protocol?
security settings?
and most importantly, which mac?

Have you confirmed your computer has a wireless card? Did you buy an iMac? MacBook? MacBook pro?
