ok here is a site and my friend wants to got to ths school http://www.nyu.edu/housing/payments/rates.html she is graduating highschool in that school and for example the price for a freshman is 8,280.00 in brittany hall and it says upto 5 students can live in it ( does each student have to pay 8,280.00)(or do they all split 8,280.00) dollars and divide it in 5 and make it equal to 8,280.00

That would be per person. I'd imagine you could request a roommate assignment if you knew someone was going and wanted to live in the same place as you do. But each school makes its own rules, so you should check it out directly with that school.

That's per person, not per room. 2-5 students means you may have to share the suite with up to 5 other students. In traditional dormitories, students are assigned to the rooms.
