Oh, boy. I don't know if I should even think about the metaphysics involved with that question, but it's so tempting that I'm obliged to give it a swing.
Think about it this way; suppose you meet the person you want to marry while you're still in high school. Suppose this person feels the same way. You get married, things go great; five years and two kids later, you're wondering what the heck you were thinking. After the divorce, you and the kids move to another town, where you meet someone who's a lot better than your last "true love." At first, you're skeptical; as time goes on, however, you realize that this person is, in fact, THE ONE. So everything that happened the first time happens again, except that five years and another 2 kids later, you're still happy.
Chance and cause/effect both come into play in this situation, I think. Location, age, time, conditions: all these lead to the effect, which is nominally satisfaction/happiness. As to whether or not this is ordained, I don't want to guess. (If so, I'm going to die all on my lonesome...) But as a better man than I once said: cut the cards. You won't win every game, but you won't lose, either. Optimize your chances, in other words.

Everything happens for a reason, I think how things play out are up to us. EXAMPLE: We have a choice to go to the supermarket, there we meet the love of our life, if we had chose not to go to the market, we are still choing, even when we don't chose, we are making a choice. Always take the bull by the horns!!

I've always felt that everything happens for a reason and one's fate is already decided, but my hubby thinks that it is coincidence. So who knows?

i believe our lives are mapped out for us as soon as we are born so yes i think things are meant to be & everything that happens is meant to happen to get to where you need to be in the next stage of your life.
