I don't know if you can find those German songs in one place, but I collect them through www.limewire.com. You can search for "German" or "German version" and see what comes up, then read through the list to find the American and English pop songs. I collected Petula Clark singing "Downtown" in German as well as the German version of "Phantom of the Opera" this way. Every time you try this with LimeWire, different German songs will come up for download. Good luck!

Robert Palmer's cover of "I Didn't Mean to Turn You On" (originally recorded by Cherrelle) "You Belong to Me" was a unique case because it was co-written by Carly Simon and Michael MDonald and recorded separately by both. The Doobie Brothers released their version in 1977 and Carly Simon released hers in 1978. The two versions had very different lyrics, especially in the second verse.
