For the moment it is, but it wouldn't surprise me if that changed.
The fact that he is one of the worst demagogic autocrats (and there are quite a few) is not mutually exclusive with democracy, people actually voted him to power (and will probably come to regret it...).

no. it relatively is a socialist u . s . simply by fact Venezuela's national assembly voted unanimously to bypass a regulation giving Chavez wonderful powers. the recent regulation enables Chavez to bypass the national assembly and rule via presidential decree. For the subsequent 18 months, he will have vast powers over social, financial, and state institutions. some electorate say it is going to help them, besides the undeniable fact that this is technically putting means staggering in Chavez's hand and the electorate won't be in a position to do something approximately it.

Chavez has been planning on making Venezula a "socialist" government...which means he's going to be turning it into a dictatorship, hence why Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice lashed out at him recently.

no is not democracy, I lived there for years when it was a "country" and people was "people", now is like a war zone where every person lived in anguish and asking themselves is they will have something to eat tomorrow, I have family there, Chavez is a dictator who feels encourage to create a comunism and he calls it socialism. I am afraid of going there.
