no, unless it's a hacked website. YouTube is a billion dollar company and they are definetly never hacked. Other non-popular websites hackers don't care about and don't take the time to hack them. Basicly, you won't get a virus from streaming movies off the internet, I don't even know where you heard that. Generally you only get viruses from software downloads from Limewire and Kazaa. And even then, they are easily avoidable.

If you want an antivirus program, then by all means get one, but as an advanced computer user and internet surfer, I know how you get viruses. You have to learn what sites to trust, and what not to trust. Popular websites are always okay. Just be careful that when you download media it isn't comming with spyware. Companies sometimes sneak you into downloading some along with screensavers for example, but it's easy to catch, they make you agree to it most times but people just don't take the time to read and that is usually the problem.

Also, if you have a virus, the source might be something you downloaded with a P2P program like LimeWire, an e-mail attachment you open which is also a very common way of getting viruses, as well as instant messaging like MSN and AIM. There is a virus going around MSN messenger lately, that link to hacker websites, and give you a virus when you click on the link.

the best defence against viruses is to not download
but - since this is reality and people love to download stuff
your second best defence is to keep your antivirus program updated on a regular basis
and whenever you download files from the internet via - youtube - or P2P programs such as limewire - always scan those files for viruses with your antivirus program - before opening / playing them
