they are very slow and tend to be nocturnal. When brightly illuminated (eg by headlights) or frightened by an approaching car they stop and play dead - and get dead

They aren't the smartest of animals. The instinctual reaction of freezing on the spot, right in front of an on-coming vehicle, certainly proves the point.

Because we put the roads over and near there homes. They don't know where to go and were not to. And last time I checked I don't think they can move faster than a car.

they roam the streets at night and the cars hit them becasue the cars are going to fast and the animal is too slow. alos i belive that their eyesight is poor, so they do not see the car coming.

They are blind making a quick get away nearly impossible if they cannot see what's coming at them.
