Bonds has never respected the fans the media even his own teammates. Bonds is for Bonds and no one else. He's a liar and cheat and let other people (Greg Anderson) do his jail time for him. The media has tried to give him the benefit of the doubt for years but his crappy attitude has finally turned most media people against him. Not only does Bonds not respect all the above, he does not respect the game itself. That's the real tragedy.

Bonds disrespecting NOT just the media, but fans, the game and fellow teammates, being related to a former Pirates teammate of Bonds I can assure you...calling him an ****** would be paying him a compliment, he is far worse than that. I only answer this question to say it will be a sad sad SAD day in baseball to have a no good worthless son of a B hold such a pristine record as all time Home Run Leader..... I would LOVE to see his sorry A.. walked every single at bat just to be sure he does NOT ever get that record!!!! he is VERY undeserving of it!!!!!!!!!!

The media is disrespecting Bonds. Like the rest of us, Barry is innocent until proven guilty and accusations are hardly evidence of his guilt. In fact, it could be a defamation campaign launched by reporters who don't like that he won't talk to them as others will.
Is it just me or did anybody notice that the media covered up McGwire's steroid use when he broke the home run record and then reported on massive steroid abuse in baseball once Bonds broke McGwire's record?
The media has a hard time being objective when they try to and its impossible when they hate somebody to the extent that they hate Bonds.
Actually, the idea that steroids are helping offense is absurd. The only 3 players suspended last year for steroids were pitchers. Steroid use is mostly prevalent among pitchers. Obviously, 'roids would only seek to reduce offense because they'd improve players all around (better pitching and better offense offset, but better fielding does not; thus why offense is up with the elimination of 'roids).
Even if you eliminate everything Bonds has done from 1999 to the present (which is the period he allegedly used 'roids), he's still a first ballot Hall of Famer and one of the greatest of all time.
The media has treated Bonds absolutely unfairly. Bonds is still one of the most valuable players in baseball, when he's on the field. If your on-base percentage is .500, as Bond's still is, you're going to be the best player on your team and one of the best run producers in baseball. I remember an article Yahoo published last year that said that Bonds wouldn't help San Francisco pick up the wins they need to make the playoffs, when San Francisco would probably win about 65 games without Bonds last season.
Like everybody else, Bonds has the right to his privacy and the media should not try to force him into interviews he doesn't want to do. It's absolute nonsense to say that because somebody is a well-known figure that the media is allowed to stalk them all day long.
Barry Bonds and Ken Griffey Jr. are very similar players. They're both sons of former baseball players who are better than their dads. Obviously Bobby Bonds was better than Ken Griffey Sr. and Barry Bonds is better than Ken Griffey Jr. Both were (at their peak) great all-around players who could hit for contact, hit for power, run, field, and draw walks. Both are good friends with each other. Both will be Hall of Famers someday. The main difference between the 2 is that Griffey is popular and Bonds is not.

It has to be a little bit of both. Yes, Bonds does not get along with the media, but who does when they are constantly accused of cheating by the same people. I personally think that the media disrespects everybody, but Bonds more than most. Wouldn't it be nice for just one day a year for Bonds not to be in the news for the same thing?

Both are guilty of disrespect but in different ways. Barry was known to disrespect the media, teammates, coaches, fans etc. even as far back as his college days. I dont think barry has respected the game as much as he respects himself and that is too bad, he could have taken a different approach and been the biggest star or this era. On the other hand the media have been equally as disrespectful of Barry, the media has the job of reporting the "facts" and when they like a player the facts never seem to be as important as the lovefest. if they hate the player for whatever reason then the "facts" have no place in their ability to try to destroy a player. Perfect example is when McGwire/Sosa had the record breaking homerun year, every sports reporter in America (along with plenty of fans) were well aware of the steroid rumors in baseball circles that readily included both of them as well as Barry. To this very day there are a lot of other "suspected users" that often arent even leaked to the public or scrutinized like Barry (Clemens, Randy Johnson, Luis Gonzalez and many others who suddenly found the home run stroke after years of not having one?). People forget that many pitchers also have juiced and yet the media still singles out only Bonds? Dont get me wrong...he gets everything he deserves but the media needs to be more responsible to us fans and talk about the others or drop the Barry bashing! Neither side has chosen the high road and shame on both sides for that....you and me and every fan of any sport are the ones who really get disrespected in the end.

Bonds disrespects EVERYBODY outside of his immediate family, and I'm not too sure about them.
Is the media piling on? Of course! But he deserves every bit of it, IMHO.
I hope when he breaks the record, Bud Light Selig decrees that Henry Aaron holds the home run record by players that didn't cheat and Barry holds the other one.
PS - anybody who says Bonds has been proven guilty of anything probably thinks OJ was framed.

bonds disrespects the media, by far
he is a completely insecure person who is in fear most likely because they are probing into a life he doesn't want to share(one that probably involves cheating of some sort)...he believes that the media should just back off him and stay away, and that he deserves that type of respect, for whatever reason, even though he shows them no respect whatsoever...even his teammates say that they leave barry alone
the media, however, is simply doing their job...they do make a big deal of small issues sometimes, but that is only because they need a story and its their job to get a story...so they probe into controversial issues or parts of barry's life that they know he is uncomfortable sharing, hoping that he will say something that they can write a story about...its their job and thats the way it is
could the media show barry some more respect? yes, but barry should be the one to show respect first
