The baby is toward your pelvis but at this point your baby probably doesn't stay head down or up, he's all over the place. I felt my one of my babaies limbs in my chest. And I didn't feel my baby kick until around 20 weeks.
You may feel a flutter some people aren't sure if it's baby or gas. If you ly on your back in a quiet place drink some cold water, and apply slight gentle pressure to your belly you might feel him.

Its very normal to not feel the movements yet because the baby is still so small. If this is your first pregnancy its even harder to decifer fetal movements from gas (sorry to say! ha ha). I am pregnant with my 2nd, and it was still hard for me to feel the baby at 18 weeks. You might feel like you have gas and it will actually be the baby "flutters". I am 20 weeks now and I am finally feeling little kicks here and there. My book says that even at 20 weeks, I might go a day or two without feeling the baby because either the baby is kicking in instead of out, or I am too busy to feel the baby at its most active times. It also says that during the day you rock your baby to sleep by walking around but at night since you are still (and sleeping) thats when your baby is most active. Try laying on your back and drinking something sweet (OJ or something) after not eating anything for an hour or so, you might make the baby move more from the energy you just gave it. This is true for me when I eat breakfast. Also, the baby is real close to your belly button 18 weeks, he might be at your belly button by 19 or 20 weeks, I would ask your doctor at your next visit, he/she should be able to tell you. Hope this helps!!!

If this is your first pregnancy, the average is to feel movement between 20 and 24 weeks. Also, the position of the baby, position of the placenta, and maternal size all play a roll in when you will feel the baby. Remember the baby is still tiny and, although moving, the movements are just not strong enough for you to feel yet. First movements feel like an eye twitch or even a gas bubble. Later on they become more clear. The uterus is at your belly button by around 20 weeks, so the baby is under your belly button right now.

I'm 20 weeks and my daughter is basically right under my belly button (I have a fetal heart monitor which is how I know this). I can feel her kicking, but it's infrequent and not very strong yet. Some people describe fetal movement as "flutters," although I never felt anything that I could describe that way. For me, it's more like a bubble popping in my stomach. My sister-in-law, who has two kids, had described it to me that way and suddenly I realized I had been feeling her.

Don't worry if you can't feel anything yet. Most first time moms don't feel anything until between 18 and 22 weeks--so it could be another month for you.

I am 22 weeks pregnant with my first baby and I didn't feel clear movements until a couple of weeks ago. Don't worry - you will feel it very soon. My babies movements feel almost like he bounces off one side to the other, but the feeling is like something little is poking me from the inside, slighter movements have a popping-bubble sensation.....now I know what it feels like he doesn't seem to stop moving ALL THE TIME! I love it though, even when he wakes up and decides to play at 3 in the morning. Lol.

All the best for you and bubs!

You usually do not feel movements until about 20 weeks and even then they are very small! Also, women who are obese feel it more than others (crazy I know) but that is what my doctor total me because a friend of mine could feel her daughter move at like 15 weeks and that is why.

*******HERE IS WHAT TO LOOK FOR:
Go pee. When you stand up you might feel a sort of roller coaster movement, that is the baby moving! When you get farther along he will move every time you pee because now there is more room for him! It will feel like that feeling when you drive down a hill when your stomach feels like it is in your chest!

Good Luck

You will be feeling movement very soon. It usually takes longer with the first baby. He is below your belly button. Congratulations!

I didn't feel any movements until 20 weeks, so I wouldn't worry too much. He's active, but he's got lots of room. When he really starts growing and starts to run out of room in there, you will feel it like crazy!
