I think it's a basalt flow---or something like that perhaps caused from an impact--- i'd search lunar topography and maybe that could explain it

The lunar mare are the dark areas we see on the face of the moon. They are called mare (latin for sea) because they were once thought to be oceans. They are made of darker (possibly igneous) rock than other parts of the moon.
