Ok,

Right now, I have a cell phone from Verizon. I've had it for a quite awhile and I'm ready for a new one. My plan is not up, until October of 2007. I can not wait that long for a new one. So, what can I do? Can I buy a new phone and just keep the same number and plan, or will they charge me? Will I still be able to get a good deal on a phone if I do so? I know, that sometimes the phones are free, however I already have a plan with them.

Thank you :]

Jojo: How will they believe that my phone is broken, if it really is not?

I'm scared they will like yell at me, and be like "no, whatever, your phone is not broken" but then at least I can say I tried! LOL

ALSO

Is there a place where I can go to just buy the phone and NOT the plan?
If so, how would that work? Would they still charge me and everything?

i got tired of my verizon phone and my contract isn't up until next year. I got a prepaid phone I'm pretty sure you could get a verizon prepaid phone at your verizon carrier. But I went for a Cingular. Nothing too special about it just to hold me over until my contract is up.

October seems like a long way off, eh? "Quite a while" less than two years? Used my last phone (Motorola V60) for four years before upgrading last September, the previous one (starTAC) for six years.

Buying a new phone now w/o a plan is going to cost you dearly upfront. Wait for your contract to expire and reup w/ a new phone w/ a 2 yr agreement and a New Every Two credit. Your employer may also get you special rates and discounts, which helps to drive the cost down further.

Stick by your trusty phone and by October the latest and greatest models should be out, or the ones you've set your heart on should've dropped in price. Sorry I can't help you in the near term.

if u bring it to the verizon store u can just say it's broken but instead of getting the same phone ur ready to try a different one to "test their variety of phones" hope that helps!!! it sounds kinda stupid but i've done it millions of times!!!!! usually it works!!! ;)
