Of course I'll work if I HAVE to, but I feel no passion or pull towards any career path. I'd rather read a good book or sit on the beach.

Did you all miss the part where I said I'd work if I had to?

My question is about the LACK OF PASSION towards any one type of work.

I feel the EXACT same way you do. But to ever be a respectable member of society we have to work and pay taxes. Unless you're going to marry a man that has money so you can lay on the beach all day. You should probably take some of those quizzes that let you know what you'd be good at. That's what I did.

Well, finances are always a factor. And if you aren't independently wealthy, you have to work. But I understand if you don't have any passion for your job.

Here's a question...is there something out there that you would love to do so much that you'd be amazed to be paid to do it? It would be worth it to occassionally look around for that kind of job. Loving what you do definitely makes the whole paycheck thing a lot easier.

Doesn't everyone!!! I wish I could just sit home and enjoy life without the stress of work or school. The reality is that I have to work as does most of the world! Sigh.... I'm feeling you right now. There is nothing wrong with it as long as you are still willing to work. I don't see how some people can be workaholics!

Yep, I'd say it's a bad thing. Where is your drive, the need to compete and succeed? were you born wealthy, has your life always been easy? I only ask because for me I was not born into wealth, did not have an easy life, and have never wanted anything more than to be successful in my career so that I can enjoy my "off" time.... I have never wanted to be "off" all of the time, however; I have never had the option.

Well if you rather read a good book, join the new york times or some big book company and read and see how books are! of writers that have yet to be discovered, and yes you do need a job to live life.

I'd rather do that too, but I want a car and a house and I want groceries in the fridge. Therefore, I must work (sigh).

I don't know how old you are, but if you are worried about finding a profession when you get older, don't sweat it. Something will come to you.

Hmm, that could be bad. I think there should be some desire for a person to want to contribute in someway to society. You know, give something back to the person who wrote the book, who made the bench, who makes you feel safe while you are sitting on that bench reading a book.

Who really wants to work? But if you want to have a decent life you better do good in school and get a good paying job. Then you can buy a lot of neat stuff and live comfortably.

Me too! I live at the beach and have always believed in 'taking my retirement in many installments'! Nobody cares if I work or not.
Except me. I don't expect some rich woman to pick up the tab.

Then you will be a sponge you might as well just jump in the ocean ,and let the fish take care of you..Counting on other people to take care of you, and they won't want to do it so you best find something you want to do because nothing is free in life not even the book you plan on reading.
