was billed for my current monthly account, then I get another bill with an additional amount billed (twice the amount) they stated they had made a mistake in reading the meter previously and I was to pay this double amount. I have paid what they have billd me every month, and never been late past due date.

A lot of utility companies only send someone to read the meter every few months and make corrections then, or for some reason the meter reader can't get to the meter to read it (dogs, locked gates, etc.) The meter reading should be on the bill. Check the current reading against the bill, and if you still have them, make sure the bills starting reading matches against the prior month's ending.

HAVE YOU EVER READ THE ELECTRIC METER? Most times people don't read the meter and cry about the bill. Have someone read the meter and have the last three month bills checked against the current reading. You will find if there is an error made.

Write down the reading, and visit the electric company. They will adjust the records so that all charges can be accounted for. Estimated bills are usually what causes high bills. What happens is the estimate is too low for 2 or 3 months, then the meter is read and the company want all the payment that was over looked the months before.
