the core has two parts. outer core and inner core. outer's core deep is 2890 km, inner cores deep is 5150 km and the middle of the core is 6371 km from surface. the outer core is in liquid and the inner core is in solid. we know that in core is nickel and iron and there is a lot of radioactive elements.This radioactive elements force the outer core(is in liquid) turn arround the inner core(inner core is in solid). this shape look like a dinamo what prduce electric in our usual life.and in the core is the same prencip and called dinamo theorem.. the core produce electric field and the electric field produce a magnetic field

I believe the rotation of the earth's core is responsible for producing the magnetic field.
