I'm looking for a free firewall, me and my husband have tried:
Comondo & Zone Alarm (at seperate times obviously) and to be honest they both have had conflicts with programs (zone alarm had too many conflicts to name plus it hogs memory and system mechanic is claiming that comondo isn't on which has us concerned...) so we were wondering if you could recommend a good free firewall, a fully functional free firewall not a 30 day trial (like sunbelt).
please provide a link too and if you wish some info too

Vote me;
I would say big deal, because not everyone is well off as you and if you want to start saying that everyone should run out and pay $70 for a firewall for what purpose each year you have to renew it we've been through that with both Norton & McAffee firewalls and we scrapped'em both cause of issues besides it kills ya systems resources...

A Firewall is a security measure used to separate your Local Area Network and the outside world. This includes not only blocking outsiders from gaining access to your network, but controling the information requested by a user inside the network.

Obviously "Vote Me" is not looking to win this one. I suppose he has never used Open Source software either.
If you're worried about the firewall software interfering with your operating system, maybe you should consider using a hardware firewall instead. You could use something like one of the Linksys models. I will caveat this however: in order to really be secure using a hardware (or software) firewall, you should not only configure it to prevent incoming ports, but also restrict what's allowed to go out. You should also change the default passwords and network addresses. There are new phishing scams going on using these default pieces of information to reroute DNS addresses to the attackers DNS so that they can steal your identify or other information. It's really common sense, but most people just want to get up and running, without considering the security ramifications of doing so.
I will note that I'm a open source proponent and feel that both Zone Alarm and Comodo are excellent products and that there are such things as free, good software out there. If Zone Alarm messed up your system, maybe there's something else wrong with it that should be further investigated.
Sincerely,
Don

Vote me, Rainbow loves her man for what he is, not for what he can buy for her. Not everything that is free includes a catch. Do you think all software creators spread abroad spyware everywhere? Maybe you will never use Linux operating system because it is free for most cases.

You have a husband. Imagine that. You have a husband and he cannot purchase a full version of McAfee protection for just $70?
What would you say if I tell you that my girlfriend, not my wife, asks for a notebook and that I bought it for her for $2,400 USD, plus 3 years of Anti virus, firewall, Internet security, wireless router protection?
Didn't your mother tell you that nothing free is good? Also note that everything that is offerred on the Internet for free is a catch to infect your pc with spywares? Tell your Husband he needs to stop making his wife beg for free stuffs.
