Yes, you should. This is a very well put together car. I have a '99 S model and have had it for 4 years without any issues. It has 102,000 miles and I have owned the car since it had 39000 miles. I have had very little issues outside of good hearty maintenance and a couple of O2 sensors (P0132, P0136 OBDII) went bad over the 4 years I have owned it. Be advised that there was a recall for this year, it was a coolant issue that needs a special fluid from Subaru; make sure you verify that this has been completed before you buy one. Performance is great! This car hugs the roads on dry pavement and is great in the snow and rain (all depending on tires). This car is low maintenance and cost very little to operate and insure. Plus, this car is safe as a tank! In 1999 it received a 4 out of 5 stars for driver's side and passenger side frontal impact ratings. Buy the car- It's well worth it!

I have a 2003 forester sx and I love it. I have a friend who has a '97 and another friend with a '99. Both cars are going very, very strong. Just make sure where you are buying from has a good reputation and see if you can do a car history report to know if it has been in any accidents. My friend with a '97 has had the car in quite a few accidents and it is running really well despite this, but you want to know what car history it has to know if you would have any further problems. I would definitely recommend seriously looking into it. I was a Honda Accord person before but I wanted something bigger since I am hitting the age of thinking of children and I decided to go with this. I love it and it was a great choice on my part. I wish you well with yours! Good luck!!

I have a 1991 Subaru Impreza. I'm the second owner, and I've only had it for about two years. Before I bought it, it lived up in Truckee, CA (elevation appx 6500 ft, lots of snow, etc), which is NOT an easy place for a car. It has about 225,000 miles on it, and it still going strong. Subarus are very trustworthy; I would feel comfortable buying the car you're looking at, as long as it has been maintained, and has not been in any big accidents.

We love our Forester! Yes, Subaru makes long lasting vehicles, and the safety factor is on the top of the list! I don't know what type of environment you live it, but in our area we live in a mountainous area, lots of rain. the Forester does great!

If it has been maintained properly it will last a very long time. I've seen them with close to 400,000 km(250,000 miles) on them. hey are safe and handle well. I used to be a Subaru service adviser before my accident.

I am planning on purchasing a one-owner 99 Forester S with 87,000 original miles on it from a dealer. Is this a good buy?
