Why can african american call us white and we can't call them black?

half of the "whites" are european, i think its offensive, don't you?
its not fair to me at all.

I call all black people black so what.
They can't make up their mind what they want to called look at all the name changes they have had most were derogatory but black is not.
Cause I sure won't call them African American because they are supposed to be Americans.
But if they want I will refer to them Americans of African decent even though most of them are not from Africa.
There is nothing wrong with black. Grow up people Stop the PC BS!

I don't know where you live, but where I live we do call them blacks. They take no offense since none is meant. They refer to themselves as black. Afro-American is nice, but a bit formal. I really don't know why we have to call each other anything other than by name. If you are asked to describe a person then you could refer to them as being black or white. When you think about it, we neither are really all black or all white! Our colors range quite a bit. Both are rather a wholesale reference of each other.

It's all part of Political Correctness madness.

If blacks, who have never lived in Africa, nor speak any African tongue insist on being referred to as "African American", then every white person should start insisting that black people start referring to us as "European American".

Of course, Europe is divided up into Western, Middle, and Eastern Europe. Therefore, blacks should rightly be required to learn the difference between the three. I am of Czech and English descent, so under PC Madness rules, I should be referred to as a "Western & Middle European American".

I call myself black...doesn't matter to me. I actually prefer to be called black than African American. I'm not originally from the US anyway.

You may call me black. Its much easier to say and most blacks do not find this offensive. It is a good way to offer a quick description of someone when their race is pertinent to the discussion.

ex: "I saw this cute guy online the other day" "He was over six feet tall, black, and had the cutest smile" "He goes by the screen name Chi Guy" ;-)

I have many black friends. One of them, "Big Jim" (6'7" 280 lbs) says he'll pommel me into the ground if I call him African American. He says "I'm not from %&#$@ Africa!" Of course I call him African American all of the time because I'm a lot faster then he is. If you notice the media refers to blacks doing good as African American and blacks doing bad as...well...black.

To educated black people the term African American is still offensive.Our correct name is shabazz tribe. We were the best and wiset tribe taken from Africa and the lower tribes helped sold us into slavery, that is why God is punishing Africa today. Caucasians never took a political stand and made it known that they want to be called caucasian or european.You europeans and caucasians own the media, so make your request known.I know that black people will respect your request because we are good natured people.

Says who? The "PC" police? Screw them. If I need to further describe a fellow American--then I use "black", "white", "Latino" etc. But I rarely use "African-American". Perhaps if they were naturalized citizens who came from Africa......but if they were born here--they're Americans.
