Dell has some great computers for that budget. They have a 20% off $999 laptop coupon at http://www.24houredeals.com/Dell-coupons-23-mer.html You can get a great computer with that coupon.
I have 2 dell laptops and would get another in a second if I needed one. If you take care of them, they last a long time.
Good Luck.

I would go with Dell and I would purchase directly from Dell. Dell can customize your deck to fit your needs and budget -- they often run specials that include a printer or some other freebies in your system. I also read recently that Dell surpassed Alienware for their basic gaming deck for features and value. I am going to buy a new Dell laptop soon as well. Good luck!

I would buy a dell. For gaming Macs sux you have to reset the computer programs if you have a specific game which most do not work on macs. Also, if you know what you want just go to dell.com and you can buy off of there. It is supper easy. Dell also usually has stores in malls and you can call them around the clock.

well for $1,000 you aint gonna find a hardcore gaming laptop so a good rule to follow is just to find a laptop that has atleast 128mb video card perferably nvida but ati will do.
and get it at bestbuy because if anything goes wrong with it you can hand it to the geek squad and they will fix it at the store where as circuit city you have to send it to the factory and that can take weeks maybe months to get back

Think again! You wont find a laptop that makes a good gamer for less than 3 grand at the least! Todays games require hi end video cards and laptops dont have them.

DO NOT BUY A DELL. Its just a load of crap. If you really couldnt brng yourslef to buy a macbook, get an HP. Dells service is terrible, if they accidently send you the wrong thing, they will not replace it. jerks.
Macbook, or HP... take your pic

Dell Inspiron/1150 is what i have and I use it for everything, you may have to add some software but it is an excellent laptop. I paid right at $1000.00 and it is well worth it.
