Without getting God involved. Please don't tell me about Jesus unless you use him as an example or refer to him as a teacher and nothing more.
Fatalism pretty much states that "if it's gonna happen, it's gonna happen." Whether you believe in God or not, if you believe in fatalism or determinism, you're sure that no matter what you do about something, you can't change it because it's destined to happen.
What is it called when you believe otherwise?
When you say that the human being is so powerful and the human mind is so strong that you can make anything happen if you set your mind to it? Or at least something close that that basic idea.
I'm aware of the fact that there may be several philosophycal movements invllving this general idea, but what are some? I don't know any of the names, and I would very much like to learn about them.
This is very important to me.
Thanks!

Fatalism is a form of determinism. It's opposite would be indeterminism, which allows for man having some degree of free will. Quantum mechanics, for example, is a scientific theory/philosophy which depends on nature itself having a degree of indetermism in the relationships of cause and effect. Yet there are versions of that theory that are completely deterministic.

'Fatalism' is not 'if it's gonna happen, it's gonna happen' at all ... it's about DEATH because every living thing on earth 'dies' ... so the 'opposite' of 'fatalism' would be 'lifeism' ... everything born lives forever. In fact, if I am a 'good Christian' I can't be either a fatalist or a 'lifeist' .. because I believe that 'what we know as life' goes 'on' in some way after our bodies 'die' ... some people call that 'Heaven/Hell' but I think I'd rather just 'wait and see what's coming next.'
