Performance wise its a turd in comparison to its siblings the Mazdaspeed 6 and Mazdaspeed3. All three have their own unique look and I'd say RX-8 is the best looking, just lacks a real motor to go along with it. I'm guessing that's why sales for it have been nowhere near the level of 350Z or even G35 coupe.

I don't own one but I think it's a nice car even though I like the RX-7 better... (just personal preference). The vehicle is still lightweight and pretty fast. I think it's a great car overall but nothing that really stands out from the rest. If you buy a 2004 it should still have warranty left on it.

2004 was the first real production year for this model.. if you are planning on keeping it for years and years, may I strongly suggest moving to year 2 or better..?

Its an awesome car that requires maintenance (regular oil level checking) and its not good on fuel. In fact, its a little pig sometimes... depending how leaden your foot is. I have had my mileage range 8mpg to 18mpg at best.

Its got decent power and handles like a dream... the Renesis sounds like something I have never heard before.. its amazing. One drive, and this car will burrow its way into your soul.

Read all you can, check out rx8club.com and read all you can on the rotary, Mazda sites etc..

Make an informed decision. Good luck.. its a trip.

It's a nice car and am interested in it too, but i've drove a RX-7 before and it's really powerful..problem is, high fuel consumption, don't know if it caters to RX-8 as well. Am impressed with this 2 models cos it's only 1.3CC and it's so damn powerful!
