Someone told me that you cant get a degree at an online college? Is that true? & also, what do they offer at online colleges? I was wanting to go to a community college for my basics and also study pre-dentistry but I dont have time to go to school with full-time work and all. Is there anything I can do online for this?

You CAN get a degree at an online college, but you want to make sure they are accredited by the right organizations.

Online colleges offer many kinds of degrees, but they heavily focus on business.

Many campus colleges are offering online programs and classes now, so it's not just the regular University of Phoenix type places anymore.

If you don't have time for a campus college, you won't have time for an online college. They are often more work because they squeeze the courses into shorter time frames (a regular sixteen week class becomes five weeks). Also, almost everything is written, and that can be more time consuming.

Have you considered going to college part-time?

EDIT: And by the way, many employers don't care about where you got your degree. As long as you have the education, that's what they care about. They often aren't impressed by the social status an Ivy League school has versus an online school if you can't do what they want you to do.

And considering a lot of online classes are taught by the same professors and instructors that teach at "real" colleges, I'd say you're safe getting a degree online.

Oh you'll get a degree, but right now you won't be looked as a REAL graduate with a REAL degree.

If you can afford to get an online degree, you can afford to go to a state college where you will FIND contacts and MEET people. Most large colleges and univerities will offer long-distance learning, just like online colleges. Sometimes it will even cost less.

--EDIT--

Anyone who says that employers don't care where you got your degree is lying and hasn't had to get a job in the real world. Getting a job is tough, and in this economy you need any up you can get. I do NOT know one interview I've gone through where I haven't been asked to describe my school. I was even told by one interviewer that he would rather hire someone who graduated with a C average from a state school than hire someon who graduated from an online school with an A average.

More and more companies are recognizing the value of achieving an online degree. Not only is the coursework a bit more vigorous, but they appreciate the self motivation to do it. You will need a lot of self motivation. You do, however, need to be very careful with which online school you decide to enroll in. There are a lot of fake ones that have fake accreditations. Remember to check for valid accreditations.

Pieces of paper that they call degrees. I'm not sure how much I'd trust the value of an online college, but there are many brick and morter Universities that offer online course and programs. They can be a good value, but some classes will be better on campus.

you can get most degrees online. Yes, it is true.

I go to community college and they have some online classes. I love them because I can get ahead and finish them early. You should check some of the totally online colleges, but also check into your local community college because they probably have online classes too.

you can get all the way to a masters degree online
