El Duque will not win 15 games, he is too old, and always getting hurt, and his ERA will be around 5.00. His best years are behind him, which is why he has pitched for four teams the last three seasons. He did pitch decently with the Mets last year, and the only reason he is coming back is because the Mets didn't acquire any good pitchers. He is there by default. He may pitch OK occasionally, but he doesn't have much left, and he is much older than 37. I'm a big fan of El Duque, and if he fails this year, I'll always have the memory of him helping my mighty New York Yankees to win three consecutive World Series titles!!! Who did the Yankees beat in 2000? I seem to have forgotten.

El Duque won't have a big year, but he'll keep the Mets in games. I think that he'll have to pitch through a few injuries, which will worsen as the year progresses, but the Mets will save him with run support a few times, and he will pitch a few gems early the year. I peg him to start 20-22 games and get 8-10 wins with a mid 4 ERA (rising as the year progresses). I suspect he won't be much more than a spot starter by the end of the year, though, as some of the Mets younger pitchers start to come through regularly (at least 2 of the following...Maine, Pelfrey, Humber or Perez)

He's gonna have a good year by default. There's no one else on the staff other than Glavine that's any good. But he's gonna have to go long in his starts because the bullpen is horrible. That could eventually cause the 41 year old (allegedly 41) to break down. he'll probaby win 15 though, which will by far make him the ace

There is a reason that the White Sox traded him after the 05 season, and that Arizona let him go mid-year last year. His best years are behind him. I met him, and he was a real nice guy, so I like him. But I see no more than 12 wins, only because they will score runs for him.

mets fans hope he will have a big year, however, any realistic person knows that hes at least a 40 yr old with diminishing stuff over the last couple of years, and not a big season since 2000 or so with the yankees.

at best:
12 wins, 4.7 era,
thats if he stays healthy

Not me, El Duque is so overrated and inconsistent it's not even funny. He could throw seven shutout innings one game and the next be pulled in the first inning.

I've always like Orlando. His style of pitching has always been impressive. Different arm angles, speeds, motions that tend to drive batters crazy. I was sad to see him leave the Yankees. I hope he has a great year.

He has consistently been a big disappointment year after year, no matter whom he played for. Why would this year be any different? He will be a flop with the Mets as usual.

Chow!!
