It sounds as if it could be coming from the outside but im not sure. The car salesman said he thinks it could be the main baring but hes not sure. The car runs very good and smooth which seemed a little weird since it was making that loud noise. Any ideas would be a help.

Could be a main bearing, or it could be a lifter. Try taking it to a mechanic (not a salesman - they don't often know much about cars mechanics). Those motors are common for having lifter tick. The engine will still run smooth, just noisy. Try changing the oil in it, as that sometimes helps, even for a little while. My lifters have been ticking in my GSX for 30,000 miles plus. Well it sounds to me, since it is a 16 valve, that the timing belt willl go, you will pay around 300 dollars to get it fixed but every 3000 kms it will break agian, unless you replace all 16 valves which could be expensive, i would say get rid of it.
