I actually liked the first one more. Newer isn't always better, but it's mostly an opinion anyway.

In my opinion, some people like the second movie better because it's newer. I love this series. I bet that people will be saying that the third one will be the best movie ever, too. It's just that, whatever you see right now, or whatever is new seems to be really exciting, and most of the time it is. In the case of POTC, the entire trilogy was absolutely stunning on all of the cast and crews' parts. The amount of work and dedication that was put into those movies is astounding and it truly paid off!

In my personal opinion, I think that people like it because of all the special effects! I mean its all priceless! But number one has all those lines and gags and romance scenes that float you up to heaven itself! I really love this movie, its so good! But like I said- we do all have our own opinions. Like me for instance- i think 1 is better, because well theres something about that pirate movie that just wows you and you suddenly love it! 2 had some sympathy given to it because the first was so good! But we have to think about it- 2 has all those great lines! It has all those sword fights and that spectacular scene with the wheel! 1 had good lines also but not better than the first, 1 had better beautiful pictures of what the Caribbean really is! 1 also has magic mixed in with it and it leaves you in awe! And thats why I love the movies! As for your question, well i personally like both of them, they are both fun filled swash buckling action movie that we cant help but love!

well personally, i don't think it's better. i think the first one [the curse of the black pearl] was sooo much better. it had better music, plot, was shorter than DMC, and i just thought it was an overall better movie. usually the first movies are better than the sequals and prequals.
