my friend wants to know cause we have this turtle in our science class and she said that it hissed at her and she wanted to know if they hiss.

Yes they can. It's freaky - my daughter swore ours hissed at her too and I didn't believe her until I finally heard it one day.

Yes turtles hiss when mad or scared. I have a red eared slider and he will hiss when i take him out of his tank.
