Hii! I am an straight A enriched english 8 th grader and i am truly stumped. I need to write an essay about three things in 2006 that everyone will remember. I am going to write about sudam husane being hung but for the life of me i cannot think of anything else. first of all, his name is spelled saddam hussein. second, there are a lot of things that went on in 2006 that many people remember. Depends on who you define as "everyone" (i.e. what Americans remember vs. everyone else).

Some things that come to mind:

1. Google purchases YouTube for $1.56 b
2. Israel-Lebanon conflict
4. Pluto demoted to "dwarf planet"
4. Earthquake in Indonesia

Why not go to Newsweek or Time Magazines' website and look at the "What Happened in 2006" issue?
Then you can pick what was most important to you.

along with what you have Fidel Castro temporarily relinquishes power to his brother before surgery in july....north korea claims to have tested a nuclear test in october...Coretta Scott King died in January...Steve Irwin's death on September 4th...there are more events, good and bad, on the link below...

The death of exuberant Australian wildlife presenter Steve Irwin was one of the biggest shocks of the year.( that is not how i talk i just edit copied and pasted it). that is all i can think of, i will tell u if i can find more : )
