Yes, there must be. It outlines the jobs of the branches of government, and gives them all their checks and ballances. It gives the law, and states American rights. I think our society would be not what it is today without our wonderful Constitution.

It is also a great patriotic symbol. It shows that America had a fresh start after the Revolutionary War. It states what America is all about. Think about it- you go to the archives and there is no Constitution to look at. The scene is not complete.

Yes, I think the Constitution is a necessary part of the government.

Yes, of course. Would you want it to be by word of mouth? One hates to think of how that would have been. Its bad enough that people seem to be able to read into it whatever they believe it says, let alone if you passed the word along to them! You remember the old game of whispering a sentence to the person next to you, they pass it along & the last person to hear it says it aloud, how different the end wording is from the first! That is what would have happened if we did not have a written Constitution! How many people could memorize it accurately? Not too many. That is why it must be in writing.

Absolutely. The reason we have a Constitution is not to give us rights (those are given by God) but to protect our rights from government. With out the Constitution chaos would reign. We would have no standard by which to write our laws.

Do you really believe this question shows intelligence? Of course it is necessary and was done long before our birth-dates. It's a written, lawful document that keeps giving you freedoms. If it wasn't there, where would you be??

Oh yeah, it is necessary. If it is not written down people forget what they agreed to. It is amazing how short the human memory is especially when being proven wrong or in trouble.
