Invest in a humidifier. They come in different sizes and varieties. The smaller ones can be found in discount department stores while the larger ones will be found in your local home improvement stores.

A dry house is not good, it causes a lot of static shocks, especially if you have carpet in your house. All you have to do is have a humidifier installed onto your furnace. If you have electric heat, then you well half to buy portable humidifiers for the troubled areas.

If you have forced air heat, then install a humidifier to the furnace. It is much easier to operate and maintain. Go to the AprilAire website.

Keep a tub of water simmering 24-7. I keep a 6gln.canning tank of hot water ,on my stove, from the day i turn on my furnace to the day i decide we don't need it. 50-60% humidity is what i try to maintain.A good humidity guage keeps us all abreast to this important winter consideration.
