Maradona..with Pele a close second and ronaldo a third.. to be considered the best .. you have to display unseen skills.. other players were great.. like Platini, beckenbauer.. but theyre were not the best.

Maradona won a world cup.. and took a bad team to the finals in 1990.. Pele on the other hand.. played for teams that were so superior.. it wasnt even funny. Ronaldo is much like Pele.. very talented but played on superior teams.. If Pele or Ronaldo were on the 1990 argentina team.. they would not have reached the finals..

and the Brazil teams would still be very good without Pele or Ronaldo.

John Charles

Could play in defence or up front. Juventus used to use him for 1 half up front and then when he scored the goals, 2nd half would use him as a defender.

Never booked or sent off in his career and was known as "The Gentle Giant". When Omar Sivori during a Juventus game lashed out at the opposition, Charles went up to him and slapped him in the face and told him to cut it out. The man was a genius and due to lack of footage during his playing times, he is always being overshadowed by the players of today regarding skill and brilliance when it comes to football.

Zidane held him in such high esteem as did Del Piero, they knew the magic of this man. He was recently voted the best foreign import into the Italian game and when you consider that Maradonna, Ronaldo and Platini were up for nomination that is some achievement.

Tom Holley, who was the Leeds United centre half whom Charles replaced when he first emerged at Elland Road, later became a journalist and recalled praise from England's top centre forward and centre half of the time. He wrote: "Nat Lofthouse was asked who was the best centre half he had played against and without hesitation named John Charles. The same week Billy Wright was asked who was the greatest centre forward he had faced, and he again answered John Charles."

If there was ever a footballer to play the game, that a film should be made about to tell a true story of how you can come from nowhere and become a superstar without losing your dignity in the game, then this is the man.

Rest In Peace John, never forgotten.

Edson Orantes do Nascimento...Pele.
He is simply the best that's ever been. He could get into ANY modern day team (when he was in his prime of course).
Garrincha..runs him a close second. It's a tragedy that he ruined a glittering career.
Can anyone tell me who Knoxville and Sayers and Ronell White are/were?
