before u get a mortgage or after mortgage? as i will do mine after mortgage as it is a private sale. People confusing me by saying is always before. Many thanks x

Most mortgage lenders want it done before the sale to make sure they arent lending you money to buy a house that will collapse within the week.

The buyer of a property always has a survey done before a sale is made. This wil pick out any faults in the property and an estimated value of the property as well.

No point in doing a survey after you have bought the house may as well just get a builder to quote.
Shutting the stable door after the horse has bolted comes to mind or more money than sense.
