What exactly is so wrong with defending America?

Maybe, but then S. Korea might have a problem on its horizon.
I'm all for us pulling back.. but then we also need to end all foreign aid. Period.

192 countries in the world. We have military bases in 130 of them . Conservatives preach about less government and less spending. Here's a good place to start.

The United States has enabled many foreign countries to focus on building their economies rather than building their military. We have been there to protect them and keep them safe from the Hitlers and Hussein's of the world.
It is about time we bring them home or insist these countries cover all costs involved with these actions. Let these countries that put their hands out to except our protection and monies, pony up to the bar and pay their own tab.

Very funny! What do you think the bases overseas are for? To protect the USA. We have to have a presence, if we pull out - shut our borders there would be no foreign trade - hence our economy would take a serious hit.

Yes we should. LET THOSE WORTHLESS EUROPEANS TAKE CARE OF THEIR OWN SECURITY. America has been towing the line for 50 + years. Its time for them to man up!!! But they wont and will start crying if we try to leave.
America protects the world. Everyone knows it but will NEVER admit it. Its great to be an American.

I agree to some extent, but I really did LOVE living in Germany all those years ... but did we "really" need to be there after the Berlin Wall was down?...probably not, however, it is a good jumping off spot for our troops!

Yes we should. We cannot even protect our own borders. We need to bring home the military and use them to secure our borders.

Usually cowards that have ZERO military experience would think that would be a benefit by pulling our troops from overseas.
But we have obligations to our allies. Also, by keeping our troops in various places around the world, they are quicker to respond to incidences that need them.

Remember Cuba Missile Crisis, thanks to the oversea bases, US was saved. It is just a small ex. for the benefit of oversea bases!
