every now and then that actually happens to me. But that is normal for me. I always skip a day or two in the middle of my period.
If this is the first time it has happened to you you may want to ask your doctor about it. It can be a number of reasons. Some that are no big deal.
as far as color? You can have periods that vary in color too. Some times they can be bright red and other times it can be more brown.
I would just mention it to your doctor. I would not worry. These things happen and can be quite normal.

Well, if you are only thirteen, then I am assuming your periods have just really started within the past two years or so.
With it coming and going like that it is probably hormonal changes. Your body is just getting used to menstruating. You will not have bright red blood it will be more dark. However, if you had your period and now you are having some brown blood come out, it's probably just old blood that was not completely shed with your period. You are ovulating now and that probably triggered the blood again. This is normal.
Now that you are menstruating, you must keep close track of your cycles so that you know when your period is due and that you do not become pregnant once you become sexually active.
Once your body settles into it's normal routine, you will find these incidents of the "breakthrough bleeding" (the brown bleeding you just had) will go away.
Hope that helps. Talk to your mother or older sister if you have any more questions that are not answered here...but, sounds to me like you are a normal, healthy young lady and your body is just finding it's own cycles.

For some yes and it could be a number of things Your body is cleansing itself of all the old stuff(brown color)
Are you on a birth control? If so that could be spotting or you were late on taking the pill.
Or you have had alot of stress in your life(stress can mess up your harmones as well as plenty of other things) or have you had a change in sports or exercise? Those things can also offset your period!
If you are really really concerned or you get other symptoms with your period definatley get ahold of your doctor.

If you are young, then this is completely normal. Periods are very irregular when you first have them. The brown blood is just older blood. You will notice it becoming darker towards the end of your period. If you are concerned, speak with your primary care physician.

If you are young yes. It takes a period about 2 years until it gets regular. Mark it down on a calender to get used to your period.
